Wilma "Willie" (Roberts) Magnano, 80, of Vernon, loving wife of over 62 years to Richard Magnano, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 3, 2017 at her home. Born in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of the late William and Marguerite (McGee) Roberts grew up and lived in Hartford, Newington, and Lebanon before moving to Vernon 48 years ago. Prior to her retirement in 1986, Wilma was employed by the State of Connecticut, Department of Continuing Education for several years, and after her retirement she was a real estate agent in the area for many years. Willie was a communicant of St. Bartholomew Church in Manchester. She enjoyed being with her family and doing crossword puzzles. Willie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her beloved children, Thomas Magnano of Vernon, and Linda Fieldhouse of Vernon; two grandsons, Ryan and Barry, and a brother, William Roberts of Watertown, NY. Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Church, 736 Middle Turnpike East, Manchester. Burial will follow in Valley Falls Cemetery, Vernon. Memorial donations in Wilma's memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
