William "Bill" Calvin Morey passed away peacefully on March 14, 2017 at MeadowBrook of Granby. He was born on February 19, 1922 in Cummington, MA. He lived the first 9 years of his life without electricity, rode a horse-drawn sleigh to school, and lived through the Great Depression. He joined the U.S. Army Air Forces in 1942 where he was a pilot flying B17's and B24's, and earned the rank of 1st Lieutenant. After WW II, he worked in Civil Service at multiple locations, ending his career as HVAC supervisor for West Point Military Academy. After his retirement, he moved back to the family farm in Cummington, MA. He was a member of the Cummington Lions Club, Cummington Grange No. 56, the American Legion, and three RV camping clubs. Most of all, Bill will be remembered for his love of country fairs, maple sugaring, solving crossword puzzles, and spending time with family. He had lived with his son and daughter-in-law (Randall and Sharon Morey) of East Granby, CT. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Peta (Miller) Morey; and his brothers, Dennison H. Morey Jr. and Charles T. Morey. He is survived by his four children, Billie Jean Wirth (John) of Dubois, WY, Robert Morey of the Island of Grenada, Aletha "Sally" Sparks (Tom) of Apple Valley, CA, and Randall Morey (Sharon) of East Granby, CT; his grandchildren, Dawn Wirth Montemagni (Brian), Gwen Wirth Stone, Kerri Wirth Reischl (Phillip), Charlie Morey, Jacy Morey (Sarah), Chelsea Morey Padilla (Chris), Jesse Morey, Kristen Morey Lopez (Michael), Briana Morey (Steve Laverty), Kevin Morey, and Olivia Morey; and nine great grandchildren. His family will receive friends on Saturday, March 25, 10-11 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the West Cummington Cemetery, West Cummington, MA. Memorial donations may be made to the The Lion's Club of East Granby, P.O.
