William B. Zboray, 83, of Bloomfield, beloved husband of the late Constance (Rawson) Zboray, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 17, 2017. Born in Greenwich to the late Benjamin and Anna (Frano) Zboray, he lived most of his life in Greenwich and has been a Bloomfield resident for the last 11 years. Bill, as he was known, was an eighth grade American History teacher in the Greenwich public schools for over 37 years and coached track for many of those years. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Old Greenwich, the Retired Men’s Association, Old Greenwich Lions Club and the Alpha Chi Rho Fraternity. An avid tennis player, he was also a member of the Old Greenwich Tennis Academy and the Bloomfield Tennis Academy, but his true passion was his family who will miss him dearly. Time together at ‘Grove Beach’, the yearly family Clambake, and Sunday’s spent attending church, playing bags and then lunch together were some of his favorites. A graduate of Stamford High, class of ’52, he was proud of the fact that he held the school record for the mile run (4:37:07). He attended Columbia University and later Columbia Teachers College where he continued to run track. Bill served in the Army for 2 years and was stationed at Fort Huachuca, which served as a backdrop for many of his wonderful stories. He loved his 37 years teaching at Eastern Middle School because he had a passion for the subject matter, as well as a passion for teaching kids. Bill is survived by his son William B. Zboray Jr. and his wife Gig of Readsboro, VT; his daughters, Sarah Kateley of Deep River and Amy Rawson Conniff and her husband Keith of Windsor Locks; his sister Carol Sadlon and her husband Jack of Stamford; his sister-in-law Jeannette Zboray of Greenwich; his grandchildren, Willy, Jesse, Andrew, Benjamin, Joshua, Jacob and Emily. Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Mike Zboray. His family will receive friends on Sunday, September 24 from 2 PM to 5 PM at the Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave Windsor. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, October 21 at the Presbyterian Church of Old Greenwich, 38 West End Ave Old Greenwich. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the Old Greenwich Lions Club, PO Box 1044, Greenwich, CT 06836, the Alpha Chi Rho Fraternity, 109 Oxford Way, Neptune, NJ 07753 or Seabury Charitable Foundation at seaburyretirement.com/giving.
