Major Wesley S. Geddes, 63, recently Area Coordinator for Greater Hartford Southern New England Major Wesley S. Division of The Salvation Army, husband of Major Eva (Hathorn) Geddes, D.Min., was Promoted to Glory, Friday, May 5, 2017, at Hartford Hospital. Born in Beacon, NY, son of the late Brigadiers James and Charlotte (French) Geddes, he was raised in The Salvation Army as his parents served different areas of the Northeast. Wes graduated from high school in Philadelphia, PA, received his AA from Wesley College, DE, his BS from Nyack College in NY, and his MA in Public Administration from LI University. He was ordained a Salvation Army Officer in 1980 in Kansas City, MO. Wes and Eva served together in Brooklyn and Poughkeepsie, NY, Cincinnati, OH, Bridgeport, CT, Erie, PA, Canandaigua, NY, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Territorial Headquarters in West Nyack, NY, and The Salvation Army College for Officer Training, Suffern, NY before coming to Hartford, CT. Besides his wife Major Eva Geddes, D.Min.; he leaves a son Matthew S. Geddes, his wife Erin and grandchildren Eliza, Nolan, and Alden Geddes all of Rome, NY; a brother James Geddes and his wife Polly of San Diego, CA; a sister Joi Basye and her husband Curt of Beavercreek, OH; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 11, 2017, at 7 pm, at The College for Officer Training, 201 Lafayette Avenue, Suffern, NY. His family will receive friends from 6-7 pm prior to the service. Burial services will be held Friday, May 12, 2017, 10 am at Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.
