Wesley B. Smith, Sr., 81, of Ellington, husband of the late Edwige "Edie" Smith, passed away Saturday. March 18, 2017 at his home. Born in South Windsor, he was the son of the late Guy Smith, Sr. & Mildred Smith. He built his home in Ellington over 50 years ago after an honorable discharge from the U. S. Army where he served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a machinist by trade and retired 20 years ago from Pine Meadow Machine, Windsor Locks. Since the death of his beloved wife in 2006, he has volunteered his time at Rockville General Hospital helping others wherever he could. His favorite pastimes were fishing and woodworking and has made many beautiful pieces for family & friends. He leaves his sons & daughter-in-law, Stephane Smith of Ellington, Wesley Smith, Jr. and Claudia Genovese-Smith of Plainville; his grandchildren, Nathaniel Smith of Plainville; Rachel Smith and her partner Robert Bruce of Plainville; his great-granddaughter, Hope Bruce of Plainville; his brother William Smith, Sr. and wife Donna of Vermont; his sisters, Barbara Wodal of South Windsor, Judy Smith of Glastonbury; his sister-in-law, Beverly Smith of Ellington; his brother-in-law, Stephane Koch and wife Nicole of France; along with several nieces and nephews; and many, many dear friends. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Smith; brothers, Guy Smith, Jr.; David Smith; sister, Dorothy LaPorte. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 12 p.m. at Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd. (Rte. 83), Vernon with calling hours one hour before. A Committal Service with Military Honors & Burial will follow in Ellington Center Cemetery, Ellington. Special thanks to Drs.
