Rev. Rupert L. Gordon, 85, of Ocala, FL, formerly of Bloomfield, CT, beloved husband of Idetha (Thomas) Gordon for 57 years, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 10, 2017. Born in Jamaica to the late Eric Gordon and Eunice Hyman, he lived most of his life in Bloomfield, CT. Rupert was a member and minister at Rehoboth Church of God in Bloomfield, CT where he served on the Pastor's Council. Rupert retired to Ocala, FL where he enjoyed visiting local nursing homes and hospitals to minister to the sick and elderly. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, he will be dearly missed. Besides his wife Idetha of Ocala, FL he is survived by his sons, Morris Gordon of Jamaica, Allen Gordon and his wife Kadijia of Stone Mountain, GA; his daughters, Angela Mitchell and her husband Michael of Hartford CT, Carol Gordon of Hartford CT, Annette Gordon of Windsor CT, Dahlia Gordon of Windsor CT and Paula Gordon of Enfield CT; a host of brothers and sisters; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A homegoing service will be held at 10 AM Saturday, April 22nd at the Rehoboth Church of God, 1170 Blue Hills Ave Bloomfield CT followed by burial in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield CT. His family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday, April 22nd from 9 AM to 10 AM.
