Rose Michelena (Russo) LaVigne, 81, of Canton, passed away Friday April 29, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Hartford, daughter of Angela "Nellie" (Czerniak) Russo of Avon and the late John Russo, she was raised in Hartford; lived many years in East Hartford and Windsor before moving to Canton. Rose was a devoted mother, daughter and sister. Over the last several years of her illness, she enjoyed gardening and spending time talking to friends and family but most of all spending time with her grandchildren Annie and Jack Sherbacow. She cherished holidays and time with her family and loved overseeing the cooking, especially the gravy. Most recently, she was thrilled to be able to celebrate her mother, Nellie's 100th birthday surrounded by family. Besides her mother and grandchildren she leaves a son Mark LaVigne of Avon; a daughter Michele Sherbacow and her husband Eric of Avon; her sister Jo-Ann Russo Antinerella and her husband Gerald of Green Hill Beach, RI; a brother Gennaro Russo of South Windsor; a cherished cousin Roseann Russo Cary of South Windsor and beloved friend Nicole Zawrotny of Avon. Her family will receive friends Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 6-8 pm at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon. Family and friends may gather Wednesday, May 4, 2016 9:15 am at Carmon's in Avon followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of Saint Ann, 289 Arch Road, Avon at 10 am.
