Rose Martha Hays, 85, of Hartford and formerly East Granby, died on Friday, May 14, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital. She had just celebrated her 85th birthday on Mother’s Day, May 9th.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Rose married Wilson “Bill” Hays in Queens, NY in 1947, and later moved to Long Island, N.Y. where she lived until moving to East Granby in 2005. Rose and Bill had two daughters, Pat and Eileen.

She was predeceased by Bill in 1977 and Eileen in 2002. Rose is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pat Hays and Charles Baltz of Windsor; her beloved granddaughters, Suryea Kelkowski of Phoenix, AZ and Shannon Kelkowski of Fountain Valley, CA. She was also blessed with her step-grandchildren, Randy and Matthew Baltz and their wives, Nancy and Lisa, and the newer loves of her life, her great-grandchildren, Kasey and William Baltz.

Her family will receive friends on Sunday, May 16, 3-5 P.M., at the Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home, 1816 Poquonock Ave., in the Poquonock section of Windsor, with a prayer service at 5 P.M. Burial will be private in Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.
