Roland R. Turgeon, 87, of Vernon, beloved husband of the late Doris (Nolin) Barselau Turgeon, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2016 at Fox Hill Nursing Center. Born in Woburn, Canada, the son of the late Honore and Rosalie (Goulet) Turgeon, he has lived in Vernon for over 40 years. Prior to his retirement, Roland was a carpenter for Union Local # 43 in Hartford. He was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church in Rockville. He enjoyed spending time with his step daughter, seven step grandchildren and thirteen step great grandchildren. He is survived by his step daughter, Rena Foley of Tolland; three brothers, Andre Turgeon and friend Antoinette of East Hartford, Armand Turgeon of Rocky Hill, and Real Turgeon and his wife Giselle of South Windsor; three sisters, Alida Odet of Montreal, Canada, Sister Leonie Turgeon of Sherbrooke, Canada, and Monique Loutel of PA, and many nieces and nephews. His family would like to thank the staff at Fox Hill Nursing Center for the care and kindnesses that they gave to Roland. His family will receive friends for calling hours on Friday, November 11, 2016 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Saturday, November 12th, at 8 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church, 25 St. Bernard's Terrace, Rockville. Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Rockville. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to St. Bernard's Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Vernon, CT 06066.
