Robert R. Kelly, 88, of Bloomfield, beloved husband of Bette (Carlson) Kelly, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017. Born in the Bronx, NY, son of the late Charles and Catherine (Roberts) Kelly, he was raised there before moving to Windsor where he graduated from John Fitch High School in 1947. He served in the US Army in Germany during the Korean War and after his discharge received his BS in Business from UCONN. He began his career at the Aetna Casualty and Surety Co and retired as marketing manager in 1987. He enjoyed photography and was an avid reader. Besides his wife Bette of 62 years, he leaves two sons Steven R. Kelly of Bloomfield and Dean C. Kelly of Colchester; a daughter Jacqueline M.K. Gallagher (Daniel) of Westbrook; nine grandchildren Lisa Kelly- Willis and Melanie Kelly; Ryan, Danielle, Caroline, Stephanie, Matthew, Christine, and Elizabeth Gallagher; and a great grandson Maxwell Willis. He was predeceased by two brothers Charles R. and Ellis G. Kelly. A funeral service will be held Friday, August 11, 2017, 11 am at St. James’s Episcopal Church, 1018 Farmington Ave. West Hartford. The Rev’D Robert C. Hooper, III will officiate. There are no calling hours. Contributions may be made to St. James’s Episcopal Church. The Carmon Funeral Home of Avon is caring for the family.
