Robert Karst Butler, IV, 38, of Vernon, Connecticut beloved husband of Analyn (DeMateo) Butler, passed away suddenly at this home on Saturday, June 9, 2018. Born in Cold Springs, New York, the son of Robert and Marlene (Luczak) Butler, III, of Manchester, CT, he grew up and lived in Wappingers Falls, New York, Manchester, CT before moving to Vernon, CT in 2015. Robert was a graduate of John Jay High School in East Fishkill, NY, Class of 1998. He enjoyed track and field, football and drama club. He was a graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Class of 2002 with his degree in Marine Engineering. He played Division 3 football and started the drama club at Mass Maritime. He was a Merchant Marine who loved the adventure of being at sea and traveling around the world. During his 16 year career he was proud to serve for the Department of Defense as a civilian mariner assigned to the United States Military Sea Lift Command, (MSC), Department of the Navy. He was a member of the Marine Engineer Benefit Association, (MEBA). In addition to his wife, and his parents, he is survived by his sister, Melanie Ballestas, her husband Carlos, and his nephew Louis of Coventry, CT. He is also survived by his Godparents Dennis and Cindy Luczak of Panama City, Florida, and his cousins Dennis and Daniel Luczak. The family will receive friends for calling hours on Friday, June 15, 2018 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 12 noon at St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville, CT. Interment will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery, Rockville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Robert’s memory may be made to MDA of CT, 127 Washington Avenue, 4th Floor West, North Haven, CT 06473.
