Richard S. Grossi, 85, of Avon, a well loved man, and beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away, Thursday, February 18, 2016, in the loving arms of his wife of 63 years, Elaine(Calkins) Grossi. Born in Hartford, son of the late Louis and Immacolatina (Cibelli) Grossi, he lived in Bloomfield, and West Simsbury prior to moving to Avon in 1984. Richard proudly served in the US Navy, during the Korean War, stationed aboard the USS Yosemite as an Electronics Repairman Technician 2nd Class, from which he was honorably discharged. Richard owned and operated Electronic Radio and TV Service in West Hartford for 36 years where everyone stopped in for coffee and doughnuts daily and just to say hi. He continued to be the consummate salesman, by pursuing a sales career at Gammer Publishing and Finman Windows. He was one of the founding members and a Past President of the Bloomfield Civitan Club and was a past president of the West Hartford Civitan Club. He was a long time member of Prince Thomas of Savoy Society, Avon. An avid camper all his life, Dick and Elaine drove that motor home everywhere up and down the East Coast. They wintered in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, and spent weekends in Rhode Island at the Charlestown Breachway. Richard established the annual Fourth of July family celebration at the Breachway, his favorite place in the world. Sunday sauce and pancakes will never be the same! Besides his wife Elaine, he leaves a son Mark W. Grossi (Jennifer) of Collinsville; a daughter Sue Ann Uccello (Michael) of Canton; five grandchildren Michael Uccello(Liz), Julie Oliveria(Matt), Nicholas Grossi, Kevin Grossi and Vincent Uccello, four great grandchildren Alana, Elise, Ava, and Hazel; one brother Frank Grossi of Farmington; and several nieces and nephews and extended family, Nan Manganaro and Carl Bondi. He was predeceased by his son Richard S. Grossi, Jr., three brothers Alphonse, Albert, and John Grossi and three sisters Emma Soucy, Sally Gammer, and Mary Giannotti. The Grossi family would like to thank the staff of Avon Health Center for their exceptional care. His family will receive friends Sunday, February 21, 2016 from 3-6 pm at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon.
