Ralph A. Fiore, 85, of Suffield, beloved husband of Diane (Thompson) Fiore, former owner and president of the Fiore Oldsmobile, Inc., entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 7, 2013, peacefully at home with his family at his side. Born in the Thompsonville section of Enfield, on February 7, 1927, he was son of the late Charles and Rachel (Valvo) Fiore. Ralph graduated from Enfield High School in 1944. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed at the San Francisco Bay Naval Station until receiving an honorable discharge in 1946. He was a member of the Rinaldi-Fede Italian American Veterans Post No. 17 and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 6281 in Suffield. Ralph graduated from the American International College in 1951, with a BA in accounting. Prior to going into business, Ralph was employed by Molinski Oldsmobile, Combustion Engineering and Hi-G, Inc., from which he resigned as Controller-Treasurer to pursue his life ambition of becoming an entrepreneur. He was a charter member of the Conn. Valley Oldsmobile Dealers Association and served on the Board of Directors and also as its Treasurer. He was also a member of the Conn. Automotive Trades Association and the National Automobile Dealers Association from which he retired in 1996. Ralph was an avid golfer with friends and his grandchildren, and belonged to the Suffield Country Club, where he enjoyed watching his grandchildren swim. He also sponsored the annual Oldsmobile Scramble golf tournaments. Ralph was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Suffield and his earlier years was a coordinator of the CCD Religious Education Program. He was also active in many church activities including the Finance Committee and was a recipient of the Archdiocesan Medal of Appreciation Award. He was a faithful volunteer at the Suffield Food Pantry. Ralph was dedicated and proud of his family. He dearly loved to watch his grandchildren grow over the years. Along with his wife of over 60 years, Diane, he is survived by two daughters, Donna M. Fiore of Windsor Locks, Janet A. Grasso and her husband Anthony of West Suffield; his grandchildren, Valarie Corado and her husband Garret Corado , Michelle, Amanda, and Adam Grasso; a great grandson, Daniel Corado; a sister, Mary Puzzo of Ft. Myers, FL; his brothers, Charles Fiore of East Granby, and Louis Fiore of Ft. Myers, FL and many nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends on Thursday, January 10, 2013, from 9 to 10:15 a.m., at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. (Rt. 159) Suffield; followed by a Mass and Catholic Burial, 11 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church, Suffield. Burial will be private at the request of his family.
