MASSA. Richard L. Massa, 63, of Windsor Locks, beloved husband of Brenda (Weiser) Massa passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Springfield, MA son of Alice (Lovotti) Massa of Feeding Hills, MA and the late Louis Massa. Richard grew up in Agawam, MA graduating from Agawam High School with the class of 1971, he lived in West Hartford and South Windsor before moving to Windsor Locks four years ago. Before retiring last year, he had been employed 42 years with Kapstone Container Co., West Springfield, MA formerly known as Longview Fiber Co. He was also a member of the Graphic Communication Conference International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local # 3N. He was a member of the Springfield Elks Lodge # 61 for 24 years. Richard and Brenda's love story began at Old Colony Beach, Old Lyme, CT where they happily enjoyed spending every summer. Besides Brenda, his wife of 23 years and his mother, Alice he is survived by a sister, Judith Massa of Feeding Hills, MA. His family will receive friends Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 4-7 PM at Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home, 1816 Poquonock Ave. (Rt. 75), Poquonock section of Windsor. Funeral services will be Friday, January 27, 2017, 10:30 AM, at the Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Palliative Medicine, c/o Funds Development Hartford Hospital, 80 Seymour St., P.O. Box 5037, Hartford, CT 06102.
