Patricia "Patty" Ann Smith, 68, of Canton, beloved wife of William "Bill" Smith, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, January 19, 2017. She was a devoted and loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt. A true friend to many. Always gentle and kind, encouraging others who were also struggling with disability or sickness. We will all miss her presence but take solace in knowing that she is now pain free and in Heaven. Born in Hartford, daughter of the late Frederick and Jeanette (Duhaime) Connolly, she was raised in Manchester graduating from Manchester High School and lived in Canton for 38 years. She received her LPN from A.I. Prince School of Nursing and served as a Pediatric Nurse at Saint Francis Hospital for several years. Patty loved nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an active member of Valley Community Baptist Church, Avon. Besides her husband Bill, of 44 years; she leaves a son Matthew and his wife Leah of Ivoryton; two precious grandchildren Aeryn and James Smith; a brother Frederick Connolly and his wife Madeleine of Pomfret; a sister Jean O'Toole and her husband Coleman of Rocky Hill; and six nieces and nephews, Coleman, Timothy, Megan, Ian, Devon, Harmonie and their families. "She made broken look beautiful and strong look invincible. She walked with the Universe on her shoulders and made it look like a pair of wings ~ Ariana Dancu". There are no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January, 27th at 11AM at Valley Community Baptist Church, 590 West Avon Road, Avon. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either Valley Community Baptist Church Deacon Fund or the Arthritis Foundation. The Carmon Funeral Home of Avon, is caring for the arrangements.
