Ozia “Butch” Oliver, Jr., 74, of Bloomfield, passed away Monday, May 21, 2018. He was the son of the late Ozie and Maudie (Chukes) Oliver and was born and raised in Quincy, FL. After relocating to CT, Ozia graduated from Hartford Public HS and entered the US Air Force where he served as MSGT for 18 years during the Vietnam War and received the Bronze Star among other decorations. After discharge from the Air Force, he was employed by the US Postal Service at the Weston Street Hartford Office for 23 years before retiring. Ozia enjoyed traveling cross-country and was an avid outdoorsman with a love for striped bass fishing. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He leaves two brothers: James Oliver of Hartford and Ray Tony Oliver of Vernon; four sisters, Nellie Oliver and Grace Oliver, both of Hartford, Gloria Oliver, with whom he made his home in Bloomfield; and Mary Oliver Benoit and her husband Eric of Windsor; and a host of nieces and nephews. Ozia was predeceased by his brother, Roy Oliver. His family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 10-11 am at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor; followed by a Graveside Service with Military Honors at the CT State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown, CT at 12 Noon.
