Oscar C. Pearman, Jr., 65, of Hartford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Dawson, GA on December 3, 1951, son of the late Oscar C. and Vera (Jones) Pearman, he was raised in Dawson, GA, and was a graduate of Terrell County High School, Class of 1972. Soon after graduation, Oscar moved to Hartford where other family members resided. He worked as a factory worker and as a mechanic for many years before his retirement. In his spare time, Oscar enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, listening to music, watching all types of sports, and spending time with his family and friends. Most of all, he will be remembered for his social and political views, his fast-talking, and his love of the Lord. He leaves to mourn his passing, two brothers, Willie Pearman, Sr. of Damascus, Georgia and Robert Pearman of Bossier City, Louisiana; six sisters, Johnnie Johnson of Dawson, GA, Mary Walton of Hartford, Mildred Yarbrough of Dawson, GA, Bettye Hicks of Hartford, Carrie Belle of Hartford, and Doris Weston of Columbus, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves many close neighbors on Charter Oak Place in Hartford including, Debbie Knowlin, Cheryl and Dawn Felder, David Coldwell, Melody Gonzales, Shirley Taylor, Madelyn Rivera, and Michelle Landry; and his nurses and caregivers including, Cathy Mauer, RN from Masonicare Partners and Vivette Wright. His family will receive friends on Friday, May 12, 10-11 a.m., followed by a Homegoing Service at 11 a.m., in the chapel of the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, Hartford. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the St. Francis Hospital, Smilow Cancer Center. They have requested that memorial contributions be made to the St. Francis Foundation, Attn: Cancer Care, 95 Woodland St., Hartford, CT 06105, in lieu of flowers.
