Norman Joseph Barton, 91, of Ellington, beloved husband for 56 years of the late Dorothy (Curtis) Barton, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at his home with his family at his side. Born in Vernon, son of the late Louis and Louise (LaChappelle) Barton, he lived in Vernon for many years before moving to Ellington over 53 years ago. He was a graduate of Rockville High School, Class of 1935. Prior to his retirement in 1976, Norman was a dedicated employee for 41 years at Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company in Hartford, retiring as the Manager of Plant Engineering. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Ellington. Norman enjoyed collecting stamps and spending time with family and friends. His quick wit and sense of humor will be missed. He was a true gentleman. He is survived by his beloved daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Ron Stomberg of Ellington; four granddaughters and their families, Deborah and Len Schneider of Vernon and their children, Levi, Kayla and Jared, Susan and Rudy Virkler of Ellington and their children, Rachel, Sarah, Seth and Aaron, Cathy and Mark Kloter of Somers and their children, Scott and Melissa, and Cindy and Ed Garrow of Somers and their children, Logan and Brian; a sister-in-law, Harriet Zashut and her husband Harry of Ellington; two special nieces, Jane Donsbough of Colchester and Nancy Pease of Enfield and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his wife, Norman was predeceased by his daughter Marilyn Barton, a sister Mable Andrews, and a brother Howard Barton.
