Norma M. (Shaw) Nerbonne, 85, of Vernon, CT, beloved wife of the late Wilfred A. Nerbonne, died peacefully on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Woodlake at Tolland, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Providence, RI, daughter of the late Thomas and Ada (Powell) Shaw. Norma grew up in Rhode Island and Boston, MA. She married the love of her life, Will, on December 29, 1950 and together they lived in Meriden, Vernon and Cocoa, FL. A dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, Norma will be remembered for her never-ending love of her family and her unselfish ways. She especially loved to go out to eat and go shopping with her daughters. Over the years, she was active with the Vernon Senior Center. She leaves her children, Dennis Nerbonne of Vernon, Robert Nerbonne and his wife Beatrice of Broad Brook, William Nerbonne of Meriden, Judith O'Neil and her husband Ernest Conti of Palm Coast, FL, Lynne Zampano of Middletown, and Susan Balfore and her husband Joseph of South Windsor; 15 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and her beloved dog, Dexter. She was predeceased by her twin brothers, Norman and Gordon Shaw. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, May 25, 2017, from 10-11 a.m., at the Ladd Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd., Vernon; with a funeral service to begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Pascoag Cemetery in Burrillville, RI. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Foodshare, 450 Woodland Ave., Bloomfield, CT 06002. The family would also like to express their thanks to the North Central Hospice and Palliative Care, the staff of Woodlake at Tolland, and Home Helpers of CT for their excellent and compassionate care of Norma.
