Nancy Bella (Gabey) Fournier, 61, of Avon, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, March 23, 2017. Nancy was born in Dumont, NJ, the daughter of Richard Gabey, Sr., and the late Dolores (Levinson) Gabey. Nancy grew up in Bergen County, NJ and graduated from Indian Hills High School in Oakland, NJ in 1973. After moving to Connecticut, Nancy served as an executive assistant at The Hartford for over 30 years, and was most recently the Assistant Director at Belden Forest Court retirement home in Simsbury. She always put the needs and happiness of the residents under her care before her own, and looked after them with great affection and kindness. Nancy had a warm and caring soul that she loved to share with others, and her infectious laugh made it easy for her to make lasting friends. She had a big heart—and an even bigger sense of adventure—which helped her find moments of pure peace in the outdoors. She loved to spend time doing anything under the sun, whether it was lying on the beach in Key West, going out for a boat ride, or tending to her flowers. Her family was her greatest passion, and she cherished and loved the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren. Nancy was truly special to everyone who was fortunate to have her in their life, and she will be dearly remembered every day. Nancy is survived by her father Richard and his wife, Ruth; her son Jesse Crifasi and his wife Rebecca; her brothers Steve Gabey, Rick Gabey and his wife Sandy, Scott Gabey and his wife Donna; her sisters Linda Garreau and her husband Russ, and Elizabeth Williams and her husband Cary; four adored grandchildren, Savannah (Rainy), Zachary, Laura, and Caroline; her life partner Leo Fournier; many nieces and nephews; her beloved "best buddy" Bella, and dear friends she considered family. She was predeceased by her mother, Dolores. Nancy's family will receive friends on Saturday, April 1, from 1:00-3:00 pm at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Rd., Avon. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm following the calling hours. Memorial donations in Nancy's memory may be made to a charity of personal significance. Her family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Bliss 9 Critical Care Unit at Hartford Hospital, and especially Bob, for the wonderful care and compassion they extended to Nancy and her family.
