Michael Wellington, 58, of South Windsor, passed away in the presence of his daughters and sister on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 12:20 AM at his home. Born on April 18, 1959 to the late Martha and Paul Wellington, he is survived by his daughters, Sarah Wellington and Erica Halvorsen; his granddaughter, and the light of his life, Madison Halvorsen; his siblings, Lisa Wellington-Nadeau and her husband James, Mark Wellington and his partner Karen, Kathy Lyman and her husband Rich, all of CT; many nieces, nephews and cousins, including one special cousin Lisa, and two very special aunts in Maine. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son-in-law Bobby Halvorsen. He is also going to be joining his pets, Shadow, Eli and Abby, left to mourn his passing is his cat, Bear. Michael was a roofer, which was a perfect job for him, as he loved being outdoors and absorbing the sun. He loved traveling to Maine with his family as well as the beaches. It has been almost a year since his heart attack on June 13, 2016 and he has had a short but valiant fight with lung cancer. His family would like to thank all of Michael's doctors, and Allison from the visiting nurse association has been a great comfort to the family in his last days. His family will receive friends on Monday, June 5 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd South Windsor, followed by burial in Wapping Cemetery, South Windsor. His family also extends an invitation for all to come to 500 Avery Street in South Windsor on Sunday, June 11 from 12 PM to 4 PM for a celebration of Michael's short life.
