Michael S. Burlhis, 26, of East Hartford, loving husband of Sarah Louise (Upjohn) Burlhis, passed away suddenly on Friday, May 27, 2016. Born in Danbury, the son of Harold Burlhis of Brookfield, and the late Theresa (Galeno) Burlhis, he grew up and lived in Brookfield before moving to East Hartford two years ago. He was a graduate of Brookfield High School, Class of 2008, and he earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering, with a major in Civil Engineering, from the University of Connecticut, Class of 2013. Michael was an Eagle Scout with Troop 135 in Brookfield. He enjoyed camping, hiking, bicycling and music. He was an avid photographer and he liked reading and writing. While at UCONN, he was a member of the Reformed University Fellowship. Michael was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Manchester. He was also an Earth Team Volunteer for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. In addition to his wife, and his father, he is survived by his sister, Diane Fields and her husband William of Manhattan, NY; his maternal grandfather, Michael Galeno, Sr. of Queens, NY; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Mary Upjohn of Manchester; two brothers-in-law, Mikel and Thomas Upjohn; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. The Lord graced Michael with a heart that only knew how to love people. A final gift of love was given by Michael who helped others through tissue donation. His family will receive friends for memorial calling hours on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Manchester, 394 Lydall Street, Manchester. Burial will be private and at the convenience of his family.
