Marie (Irene) Lemrise, 96, of West Suffield, beloved wife of Raymond Lemrise, peacefully passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2017. Irene was born in New Bedford, MA on June 21, 1921, the youngest of 18 children and daughter of the late Alphonse Foisy and Eleanor (Giroux) Foisy. She attended school in Massachusetts and on July 4, 1940 married the love of her life, Raymond Lemrise. She quickly began her family and became a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Irene was a talented cook, a funny storyteller, and a fearless traveler who enjoyed road trips with her husband and children. Irene and Raymond's shared love of camping and square dancing took them all over the country throughout the years. One of her favorite adventures with Raymond involved driving cross country to Alaska to see the splendor of the Pacific Northwest. In later years, Irene and Ray spent their winters in Vero Beach, FL. The happy couple shared 65 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and special memories. After Ray passed away in 2005, Irene voyaged on with grace, independence, and abundant humor. She loved watching UConn basketball and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by three children, Eleanor Loughran and her husband Jack of Windsor Locks, Neal Lemerise and his wife Diane of Reno, NV, and Mark Lemrise and his wife Laurie of Worthington, MA. Irene was predeceased by her son Raymond Lemrise in 1993. She also leaves her daughter-in-law, Margaret Lemrise of Plainville; 12 adored grandchildren, Kenneth Loughran (Georgette), John Loughran (Debbie), James Loughran (Gigi), Jacqueline Carrera, Leslie Drezek (Derek), Dawn Gambacini (Damien), Michelle Arena (David), Judd Lemrise (Ala), Heather Lemrise, Jason Lemrise, C.J. Lemerise, Sierra Lemerise; ten great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her husband and son, Irene was predeceased by ten brothers and seven sisters. Private services will be held at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
