It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, Margaret "Peggy” Coldwell, age 92, of Avon, CT, on September 11, 2017. She was born on March 14, 1925, in Detroit, MI, to the late Elliot and Bertha Mill. Elliot was an executive at General Motors and relocated frequently. As a result, Peggy and her dear sister, and closest friend, Eleanor Mill, attended 21schools in 18 states before graduating High School in 1943. She then attended the University of Maryland and was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority. Peggy married the late William "Bill" Coldwell in1944 and they had three children over a 32-year marriage. After over 20 years as a housewife and mother, Peggy became a licensed stockbroker in1965, one of the first women to do so. She continued working in the field, finally retiring from A.G. Edwards (Farmington) in 2002 as a vice president. Peggy remarried in1984 to the late Livio "Moe" Allegrini. They traveled all over Europe together and made friends everywhere they went. In her spare time, Peggy enjoyed reading history, gardening, and she even took up flying. Peggy lived in New Britain, CT from 1971until 2012, when she moved to Avon. She was a resident of Apple Rehab for the last four years of her life. Peggy is survived by her children, William "Chap" Coldwell and his wife, Bonney, Eleanor "Lindy” Coldwell and her husband, Carl Cozad, and Matthew Coldwell and his wife Joan. There are seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. In addition, she leaves behind her niece Nicky and husband Brian. The family is grateful to the wonderful staff of Apple Rehab of Avon and Seasons Hospice for their gentle, kind and competent care of our mother. At Peggy's request, no services are planned. For those wishing to honor Peggy’s life, the family suggest donations be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
