Louise Amelia (Toth) Gallinoto, 80, of Avon, passed away on November 21, 2016 after a battle with liver cancer. She was born on September 13, 1936 on Long Island and spent her childhood in New York and Hartford. At age 7, she was a survivor of the Hartford Circus Fire, along with her mother, Louise, and brother, Albert. Her sisters, Regina and Joan, were lost in the fire. Her younger sister, Kathleen, was not yet born. Her first "real job" was with the Underwood Typewriter Company and after marrying Michael Gallinoto, she worked with the family businesses of Imperial Upholstery and Gallinoto's Italian Kitchen. In the 1990's, she opened her own gift shop, The Clutterbug, in Pine Meadow, where she made many friends and became "Mom" to many avid Beanie Baby collectors. In her later years, she enjoyed quiet and peaceful moments in her garden in Whispering Pines. She also deeply loved her volunteer work at Avon Health Center, before she herself became a hospice resident there. On behalf of Louise, her family would like to thank the amazing people at Avon Health Center and the Farmington Valley VNA Hospice team, the "Ladies of Whispering Pines," and all her friends and family who regularly visited during her illness. She became "Mom" and "Mama" to so many and truly touched us all with her love, strength and grace. Louise had four children; Guy, Brad, Michele and Renee, and four step-children; Mike Jr., Joe, Lynn and Donna. She was Grandma and "Nana" to Rob, Greg, Keith, Scott, Erica, Lauren, Garrett, Jayme, Carly, Renee, Michael, Taylor, Lauren, Sara, Julia, Jonathan, Deborah and Daniel. Many great-grandchildren will miss her as well. She will be lovingly remembered in a memorial service on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 4:00PM at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon. Friends and family may gather an hour prior to the service from 3-4PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Louise's honor may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
