Lisa Ellen (Morris) Hazzard, 49, of Windsor, beloved wife of Robert L. Hazzard, Jr. and mother of Mason Robert Hazzard and Preston Randolph Hazzard, passed away on June 30, 2017 after a courageous battle with kidney cancer. While at Hartford Hospital, Lisa was surrounded by her cheerleaders and received an enormous outpouring of love and encouragement in her final weeks. She leaves behind her mother, Irene Morris of San Antonio, TX; two brothers, Eric Morris of Conroe, TX and Allen Morris of San Antonio, TX and his family; and an aunt, Sharon Kappesser and her husband Larry of Carol Stream, IL. Lisa also leaves a host of extended family members and dear friends including her best friends Amy Meredith and Debbie White. Lisa was born in Chicago, IL on July 12, 1967, daughter of Irene (Randolph) Morris and the late Durwood Wayne Morris, and relocated to Dallas, TX as a young child. A 1985 graduate of Lewisville High School in Lewisville, TX, Lisa was a classmate and good friend of Robert Hazzard. The two kept in touch during college and their friendship ultimately blossomed into romance. After Lisa graduated from the University of Texas in Dallas in 1989, the two married in 1990 and were blessed with two sons. The family relocated to Connecticut in 1999 for Robert’s career, and Lisa brought her larger than life smile and charm to New England. She was a valued administrative team member at Starling Physicians OB-GYN in Bloomfield and leaves behind dear friends and colleagues. Before joining the Starling staff, Lisa spent many years in Windsor Elementary and Kindergarten schools greeting parents and students as they came into school. Lisa was a devoted wife and partner to Robert as well as an affectionate and encouraging mother to her sons, Mason and Preston. Lisa was the Mom who supported her sons in everything they did in Boy Scouts and archery, volunteering to coordinate activities and adults, and led by example, challenging her sons to become responsible and caring citizens. A trained musician, who studied both piano and flute, Lisa was an artist and performer who lived every day with a song in her heart. She was an active member of West Hartford United Methodist Church where she ministered through music, singing in the choir and performing as a featured soloist. Lisa was also very active in the organization of the church serving as the Chair of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee. She was a former member of the Hartford Chorale and City Singers Choral Group and in 2009 performed with her mother’s church choir at Carnegie Hall in NYC. Lisa had an enormous heart and was especially fond of her dog Dana, turtles, and giraffes. She lived each day to the fullest and even though she is gone from our sight she remains in our hearts forever. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. at The Lodge Community Chapel, 130 Deerfield Rd., Windsor, CT 06095. A service celebrating Lisa’s life will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, July 8, 2017 at West Hartford United Methodist Church, 1358 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, CT 06110. Her family kindly requests that those in attendance please wear their brightest apparel (especially tie-dyes). In lieu of flowers please make any memorial donations to The Kidney Cancer Association (KidneyCancer.org), PO Box 4668 #38269, New York, NY 10163-4668. Carmon Funeral Home of Windsor has care of her arrangements. For directions and online condolences, please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com.
