Linda Ann (Somers) Mickelson, 62, beloved wife for 37 years of the late Lowell Mickelson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at her home. Born in Neumunster, Germany on August 16, 1953, daughter of the late Gerald and Frieda (Bonnichsen) Somers, she was raised in New Jersey, and had lived throughout the United States before settling in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1984. It was in Florida that she met her husband Lowell, and after 10 years the young couple returned to the northeast and moved to Avon, Connecticut where she had lived for the last 32 years. Linda worked as a critical care nurse at UConn Health Center in Farmington for over 30 years until her retirement in 2014. In her spare time, she loved gardening around her home, cooking for her family and friends, and listening to her favorite classic rock music. Linda enjoyed traveling throughout her life and experiencing different cultures. She loved the outdoors and spending time with nature and especially enjoyed being near the ocean. She was fond of animals, especially her dog Spencer. Most of all, Linda will be remembered as a wonderful wife and mother, who enjoyed raising her children and creating lasting memories. Her love and strength will always be with those whose lives she has touched. She leaves a daughter, Jayme Mickelson of Avon; a son, Eric Mickelson of Fort Collins, Colorado; a brother, Christopher Somers of California; a sister, Barbara Somers of New Jersey; her father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Harriet Mickelson of Bloomfield; a brother-in-law, Jeffrey Mickelson and his wife Linda of East Lyme; two nephews, Brian Mickelson of Seattle, WA and Sean Mickelson of Portland, Oregon; and a niece Emily Mickelson of Queens, New York. Linda's family will receive friends on Thursday, January 21, from 10 -11 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon, CT.
