Lin S. Tai, 82, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at his home in Bloomfield. Lin, affectionately called “Manny”, was born on March 2, 1935 in St. Mary, Jamaica, son of the late Henry and Ambrozine Tai. He lived in Bloomfield for over 20 years after retiring from being a licensed ship captain for many ocean liners. His profession gave him the opportunity to live in many places, Maryland, Texas and Honduras to name a few. In his spare time he loved to play a friendly card game with his family, or tell stories of his adventures being at sea. He leaves his son David Tai of London, England; his daughter Linnette Tai and beloved granddaughter Rea Tai of Bowie, MD; a brother Harry Tai and his wife Verona of Hampton, GA; a sister Francella Tai-Williams of Silver Springs, MD; and a special friend and ex-wife Barbara Tai of New Carrollton, MD. He will be especially missed by his nieces and nephews who helped take care of him these past few years. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by 2 brothers, Cecil and Asha, and 2 sisters, Daisy and Evadney. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Monday, October 2 at The Lodge Community Chapel, 130 Deerfield Rd Windsor. His family will receive friends prior to the service at 10:30 AM. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
