Kevin Wayne Knowles, 53, of Granby, beloved husband, father, son, and brother, passed away on April 10, 2015 at his home. Kevin was born in Washington, D.C. on February 7, 1962 and grew up in Barrington, RI. He attended Providence Country Day School and received his bachelor's degree from Green Mountain College in Poulty, Vermont. In his youth Kevin was an active Boy Scout and proficient sailor, having attended Camp Fuller every summer for 10 consecutive years. As an adult he became a passionate mountain biker and tackled rugged terrain in New England as well as Moab, Utah. Kevin enjoyed biking in a local group and developed many lasting friendships with its members. During his work week Kevin was an energetic and successful manufacturer's representative of consumer products but on the weekend he focused his attention on his home and family. He was known for his meticulously landscaped yard and the ability to repair almost anything in his home. His unending energy and outgoing nature will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is loved and mourned by his wife of 23 years, Dawn Knowles and their two sons, Collin Wayne Knowles and Drew Eric Knowles. He also leaves his mother, Janice D. Knowles of Providence, RI and father, Wayne F. Knowles and his wife Karen of Barrington, RI; a brother, Brian M. Knowles and his wife Amy of NYC, NY; a sister, Lauren E. Hall and her husband Chris of Glen Rock, NJ and their sons Alec and Nathaniel Hall; an aunt, Mary G. Knowles of Durham, NC; an uncle, Ben Knowles and family of Durham, NC; father-in-law, John Bergen and his wife Audrey of Raynham, MA; two brothers-in-law, John Bergen and his wife Jen of Raynham, MA and Patrick Bergen and his wife Robin of Middleboro, MA and their families. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby, CT 06095. His family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. prior to the service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations made out to Merrill Lynch, with memo: Knowles Education Fund to Merrill Lynch Att: Chris Hall, 208 Harristown Rd., Glen Rock, NJ 07452.
