Joseph Roland Benoit, 97, of Windsor, husband of the late Genevieve (Vallieres) Benoit, passed away Monday, November 3, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Weedon, Quebec, Canada, son of the late Elzear and Marie (Marcou) Benoit, he had lived in Windsor for over 70 years. He started his work career at Whitney Chain then he and his brother Jack started Automatic Lubrication in Windsor where he worked for many years before his retirement. As a young man in Canada he was a goalie on a Semi Pro hockey team sponsored by Dominion Textile and also boxed in the Golden Gloves. He leaves his daughter Linda Benoit of Windsor; three grandchildren Jocelyne Nagy, Austin Nagy and his wife Amanda, and Hunter Murray; a great grandson Rorik Nagy; two sisters Rita Glenn and Yvette Foley both of Montreal, Canada; and his dog companion Brom. Besides his wife he was predeceased by his brothers Jack and Frank Benoit and sisters Lorette Therioux and Cecile Bourque. His family will receive friends Saturday, November 8, 2014 from 10-11 AM followed by a Memorial Service at 11 am at the Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home, 1816 Poquonock Avenue, Poquonock section of Windsor.
