Joseph P. Hesse, Jr. 94, of Windsor, passed away on June 4, 2018. Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Joseph P. Hesse and Marie C. (Mueller) Hesse. Joe enlisted and served with the United States Army as an Engineering Aide in WWII. Following the war, he worked in Military Intelligence in Japan, and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University. Joe's early working career was at General Electric and United Aircraft Corporation. Later he worked for the State of Connecticut, starting at the Commission on Human Rights then at the Department of Housing, retiring in 1989. He was a longtime member of the First Church in Windsor and served as Treasurer of the Capital Region Conference of Churches. Joe was involved in Windsor civic clubs and the Democratic Town Committee. He enjoyed traveling and researching his family's ancestry. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marilyn (Mills) Hesse of Windsor; daughter Margaret Loomer and her husband Leroy of Windsor; daughter Jennifer Trinks and her husband Philip of Enfield; son William Hesse of Aarhus, Denmark; son Joseph H. Hesse and his wife Aimee Giles of San Francisco, CA.; grandchildren Holly and Alex Loomer, Bonnie Trinks and Nell Hesse-Giles; and sister Mary Jo Hesse Byrne and her husband Gary of Louisville, KY. He was predeceased by his brother Henry R. Hesse. Sincere thanks to the staff and friends at Stonebrook Village in Windsor Locks, CT. A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Church in Windsor, 107 Palisado Avenue, Windsor, CT 06095. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Windsor Veteran’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the First Church in Windsor.
