Joseph F. Rudzik, Jr., 89, of East Granby, CT, husband of the late Carol Tonya (Griffin) Rudzik, died on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. Born in Holyoke, MA on October 17, 1926, son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Partyka) Rudzik, he was raised in Holyoke, MA and was a graduate of Holyoke High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served until his honorable discharge. Joe returned to Massachusetts and enrolled at Westfield State Teacher's College where he received a Bachelor's degree in Education. Joe taught for many years in the Windsor Locks Public Schools. Proud of his service, he was a member of the American Legion and various other veteran's groups. He was a member of Granby Grange, #5 in Granby, CT and he attended the Copper Hill United Methodist Church in East Granby, CT. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Carol Griffin Rudzik; and two brothers, Robert R. Rudzik and Paul M. Rudzik. He is survived by two brothers, Thomas R. Rudzik, Sr. and his wife, Barbara of Goshen, MA and Richard Rudzik of North Fort Myers, FL; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 1 p.m., at the Copper Hill United Methodist Church, 27 Copper Hill Road, East Granby, CT. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Copper Hill United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 422, East Granby, CT 06026 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
