Joseph Alfred "Whitey" Doiron, 89, of South Windsor, CT, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 15, 2017 after a brief illness. Born in Hartford, CT on December 14, 1927, he was the son of the late Martin Doiron and Lucy (Boudreau) Doiron Audet. He attended Hartford schools and worked for Royal Typewriter for 25 years before they relocated to England. He was also employed at Max Landerman in Hartford until his retirement. Whitey was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. He was an avid fan of the NY Giants, NY Yankees and UConn basketball. Whitey is survived by his wife of 21 years Patricia Doiron. He leaves behind his children Barbara Doiron Lawson and her husband Bob of Coventry, Martin and his wife Norma (Fisher) Doiron of Bolton, Stephen and his wife Gail (Erickson) Doiron and Frances Doiron Mccarter and her husband Roy of Manchester. He is also survived by his step-children Bill and his wife Debby Noble of East Hartford and Jonnie and his wife Lorrie Noble of Coventry. He will be greatly missed by his six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Josephine Lasnier and Yvonne Lezizza and her husband Barry, his sisters-in-law, Dolores Cohen and Jane Barry and her husband Dick, his second wife's children Linda Eckert of Florida and Steven Eckert and his wife Becky of Burlington, CT, many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his first wife and the mother of his children Millie Carilli Doiron, his second wife Irene Eckert Doiron, his sister and brother-in-law Lucille and Eddy Redys, his step-son Jimmy Noble and his step-grandson Jason Noble. The family would like to thank his nurse, Diana Acheampong from Angelic Nursing & Home Care for the wonderful care she provided for our Dad and family. We miss you Daddy and know that you are now at peace. Family and friends may call on Friday, April 21, 2017, from 5-8 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. Family and friends may gather on Saturday, April 22, 2017, 9 a.m., at the funeral home; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at St. Francis of Assisi Church in South Windsor.
