John Joseph Liska, 93, of Granby, beloved husband of 67 years of Mary Ann (Ursini) Liska, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Born in East Deer, PA to the late Paul and Mary (Lehosky) Liska, he served his country proudly with the US Marine Corps during WWII and worked for the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company for over 40 years. John was an active member of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brackenridge, PA and recently had been attending St. John Lutheran Church in Westfield, MA after moving to Granby in 2007. John was very involved with the Granby Senior Center and enjoyed collecting coins, dancing and card games, but his true passion was his family who will miss him dearly. Besides his loving wife Mary Ann, he is survived by his sons Timothy Jan Liska and his wife Pamela of Monrovia, MD, and Daniel Paul Liska and his wife Cynthia of Warren, OH; his daughter Rebecca Jo Bossi and her husband William of East Granby; his sister Mary Burin of Greer, SC; his grandchildren Heather Liska, Brian Liska, Megan Morrell, Kristen Mowrey and her husband Rob, John Liska, Matthew Bossi and Justin Bossi; and his great-grandchildren Rylan Mowrey, Elena Liska and Corinne Liska. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother George Paul Liska and his sister Martha Slanicka. A celebration of life will be held at 7 PM Friday, September 25 at the Hayes Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St Granby. Viewing at Dusters Funeral Home in Tarentum, PA and burial in Mount Airy Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. His family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 1 PM to 3 PM and 5 PM to 7 PM. Memorial donations may be made in John's name to St. John's Lutheran Church, 60 Broad St Westfield, MA 01085 or St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1160 Parkside Dr. Brackenridge, PA 15014.
