John J. Gallagher, 51, of East Windsor, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Born in Boston, MA to the late Robert J. and Helen (Donlan) Gallagher, he lived most of his life in Suffield. John enjoyed fishing, playing horseshoes and working outside. He loved to garden and assisted everyone in his apartment complex to grow their own vegetables. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his sisters Patricia Roy and her husband Elzear of Suffield, and Katherine LeBlanc and her husband Thomas of East Windsor; his brothers Kenneth Gallagher of Enfield, Frederick Gallagher of Shelton and Daniel Gallagher and his wife Rose of Milford; his nieces Jennifer (Roy) Ammerman, Angelique (Roy) Messenger, Danielle (Gallagher) Blanchette and Helena Rosario; and his nephews Richard Roy, Thomas LeBlanc and Ian LeBlanc. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his nephew Matthew Roy. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, July 16 at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St Suffield followed by burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Suffield. His family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday from 12 PM to 1 PM. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations in John's name to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St. I-91 Tech Ctr, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
