Jeanne R. Ota, 67, of South Windsor, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 28, 2016. Born in Hartford, the daughter of the late Ed and Candace (Reynolds) Ota, she was a lifelong resident of South Windsor. She graduated from South Windsor High School, Class of 1967, and she earned her undergraduate degree from Nasson College in Maine. She was employed by the Institute for Community Research in West Hartford for many years. Jeanne was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of South Windsor. She enjoyed reading, watching movies and taking care of her pets. She is survived by her two brothers, Ed Ota, Jr. and his wife Paula of Rehoboth Beach, DE, and Barry Ota and his wife Melinda of Mt. Laurel, NJ; five nephews, Ed Ota, III and his wife Alicia, Thaddeus Ota and his wife Fran, Nathan, Kevin and Jared Ota; a niece, Kira Ota; two great nephews, Alexander and Joseph Ota and two great nieces, Abigail and Margaret Ota. Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Friday, November 4, 2016 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor. Funeral services will be held at the First Congregational Church of South Windsor, 993 Main Street, South Windsor at 9 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016. Burial will follow in Wapping Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to First Congregational Church of South Windsor, P. O. Box 165, South Windsor, CT 06074.
