Jeanne D'arc (Michaud) Chasse, 84, of South Windsor, formerly of East Hartford, beloved wife of the late Joseph Albert Chasse, died peacefully on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by her family. Jeanne was born on November 19, 1931 in Upper Frenchville, ME, daughter of the late Rene and Mabel (Pelletier) Michaud. She attended Mt. Mercy School in Waterville, Maine. She was married to the love of her life, Joseph A. Chasse on July 19, 1960 and together they settled in East Hartford. She worked for the State of CT DRS, retiring in 1995 after many years. Jeanne was a strong, gentle woman who lived in gratitude. She had a positive outlook on life and was a social woman who greeted others quietly with a smile. She was generous to a fault, easy going and devoted to her family and friends. A woman of deep faith, Jeanne was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church. She enjoyed volunteering within the community and participating in activities at the South Windsor Senior Center. She leaves her children, Donna Belcher and her husband David of South Windsor, Andrew Chasse of Marlborough, Philip Chasse of East Hampton; two grandchildren, Amanda Kimball and her husband Lenny of South Windsor and Justin Belcher and his wife Adelina of Rocky Hill; sisters-in-law, Jeannine Michaud of Topsham, ME, Ernestine Dumonte of NC, Gertrude Chasse of Newington and Cecile Chasse of Quebec; her brother-in-law, Mickey Chasse of Grand Isle, ME; numerous nieces and nephews and many other family members and friends all throughout Maine. She was predeceased by her brother, Clifford Michaud. Family and friends may gather on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, 9 a.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at St. Francis of Assisi Church in South Windsor. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in East Hartford. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church, to be used for the Pipe Organ Preservation & Music Program, 673 Ellington Rd., South Windsor, CT 06074.
