Janina (Skowronek) Rydzik, 81, of Hartford, beloved wife of the late Franciszek Rydzik, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2017, at Hartford Hospital. Born in Lezajsk, Poland on September 12, 1935, daughter of the late Andrzej and Rozalia Skowronek, she was raised in Poland and had lived in Hartford since she immigrated to the United States in the early 1970’s. Janina worked in the data processing department at The Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford before her retirement. She was a devout Catholic and an active parishioner of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church in Hartford where she also belonged to the Holy Rosary Society. In her spare time, she enjoyed tending to the flower and vegetable gardens around her home and spending time with her family. She leaves four nieces, Halina Pazera and her husband Boguslaw of New Britain, Grazyna Pleskacz and her husband Marian of Poland, Lucja Szulewska of Poland, and Aurelia Ples and her husband Artur of Poland; a nephew, Mariusz Skowronek of Poland; a special great niece and nephew whom she was very close to, Robert Pazera and his wife Kaitlin of Durham and their son, Sawyer Pazera of Durham, and Elzbieta “Elizabeth” Leniart and her husband Pawel and their son, Mateusz of New Britain; and many other relatives in Poland. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Ludwik and Jozef Skowronek; and a nephew, Eligiusz Skowronek. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 1, 5-8 p.m., at the Waszkelewicz South Green Memorial Home, 43 Wethersfield Ave., Hartford. Family and friends may gather on Wednesday, August 2, 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Hartford.
