Irma “Joyce” E. (Haynes) Serville, beloved wife of Norton Agapete Serville, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018, peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Port of Spain, Trinidad on November 2, 1944, Irma was the second child of four born to the late Carl Francis and Euphemia Lezama Haynes. Raised in Trinidad, she graduated from Progressive High School and then Electronic Computer Programming Institute in New York. Her career spanned 30 years at Oak Hill School and Mays Institute where she loved on and took care of many others. She was a member of Crossroads Community Cathedral where she enjoyed volunteering and singing in the choir. After her retirement in July of 2009, she and Norton enjoyed many years traveling around the country with their grandchildren and having new adventures. She loved to be surrounded by her family and was happy helping others, cooking, dancing, and entertaining anyone and everyone. She was loved and respected by all and was a faithful follower of God. Even until her last days she was at peace with her life and happy with all that she had done and experienced. She touched countless lives along the way. In addition to her husband of 53 years, Irma is survived by her two sons: Richard Serville of Manchester and Ronald Serville of East Hartford; three sisters: Thecla Martinez and husband, Angel of Spain, Kathleen Winful of East Hartford, and Ingrid Williams and husband, Joe of Michigan; six grandchildren: Vanessa McCollum and husband, Steven of Coventry, Alyssa Serville of West Hartford, Alanna and Rebecca Serville of Manchester, and Asia and Jalen Serville of Windsor; two great-grandsons: Aiden and Sean of Coventry; and three nephews and three nieces: Jerrold Winful and wife, Colleen, Lydia Serville Salina, Erica O’Neal and husband, Fred, Deirdre Serville, Carlos Martinez, and Joel Williams; as well as many other close family friends and loved ones. She was predeceased by her daughter, Keysha Rene Serville. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (May 16th, 2018) at 11:00 AM at Crossroads Community Cathedral, 1492 Silver Lane East Hartford, CT 06118. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield, CT.
