Irene (Plunge) Yuscavitch, 92, of the Poquonock section of Windsor, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016, holding hands with her beloved husband of 68 years, Chuck. Born in the Rainbow section of Windsor, Rene, as she was affectionately known, was a lifelong resident of Poquonock and graduated from John Fitch High School in 1941. A lifelong communicant of St. Joseph Church, she was a member of the church choir for many years as she loved music and singing. She also sang in local choruses and singing groups here and in Port St. Lucie, FL where they spent many winters. In Florida, she and Chuck entertained family and friends as her door was always open. Rene was employed by the Stevens Paper Mill and retired from Combustion Engineering in 1988. Active and vibrant, she also enjoyed dancing, golf, swimming, bowling, and playing cards. She was also a member of the St. Casmir's Lithuanian Society Woman's Auxiliary. Besides her husband Chuck; she leaves a son Bruce and his wife Maureen of Windsor Locks; a daughter Nancy Justin and her husband Thomas of Sparta, NJ; an" adopted" daughter, Judith Dryer; a sister Frances Garvan of Manchester; 6 grandchildren Michael, Carrie (Anthony) and Laura Justin ( Gordon), Dennis (Sharon) Yuscavitch, and Tara Munroe (Robert), and Erica Yuscavitch; 7 great grandchildren Dylan, Colin, and Alex Munroe, Emilie, Conlin, Alexa, and Quinn Yuscavitch; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Michael and grandson Michael Ryan and siblings Mildred Plunge, Mary Miskavitch, Anne Viewager, Alexander, Michael, and Edward Plunge. She will be greatly missed by family and friends alike. Her family will receive friends Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 3-6 pm at the Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home, 1816 Poquonock Ave. Poquonock section of Windsor. Family and friends may gather Monday, January 18, 2016, 9:15 am at Carmon's in Poquonock followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10 am at St. Joseph Church, 1747 Poquonock Avenue, Poquonock. Burial will follow in Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St. I-91 Tech Ctr., Rocky Hill, CT, 06067.
