Henry J. Labedzki, 54, of Hartford, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 5, 2017, at his home. Born in Hartford on October 30, 1962, son of Joseph F. and Sophie (Kolodziej) Labedzki, he was a lifelong resident of Hartford and a graduate of SS. Cyril & Methodius School and Bulkeley High School, Class of 1982. After high school, Henry continued his education at Porter & Chester Institute where he studied architecture. Henry loved fixing things and working with his hands. He worked as a machinist at Textron, Inc. until the mid 1990's when his passion for cars led him to open his own auto shop in Hartford, J&H Automotive. As a young man, he enjoyed skate boarding with his friends and he was very active in Polish Scouting. He had a lifelong love of R/C cars, airplanes, and boats, a hobby that he pursued until the time of his passing. He was a lifelong parishioner of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church in Hartford. Besides his loving parents, Joseph and Sophie Labedzki, he leaves two brothers, Theodore Labedzki and his wife Diane of Windsor, and Joseph Labedzki, Jr. of Cromwell; a sister, Teresa G. Blaschke and her husband Kenneth of Southington; two nephews, Erek-Jon Blaschke and his wife Nhung of Santa Clara, CA, and Brenden M. Blaschke of Myrtle Beach, SC; a niece, Amanda M. Gibson and her husband Jon-Richard of Peabody, MA; and two great nieces, Misha and Myla Blaschke. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 17, 5-8 p.m., at the Waszkelewicz South Green Memorial Home, 43 Wethersfield Ave., Hartford. Family and friends may gather on Thursday, May 18, 9:15 a.m., at the Waszkelewicz South Green Memorial Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Hartford. Burial in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield will be private and at the convenience of the family. Henry's family has requested that memorial contributions be made to SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 55 Charter Oak Ave., Hartford, CT 06106.
