Gloria W. Maid, 89, of South Windsor, beloved wife of the late Larry Maid, died on January 31, 2016 at Rockville General Hospital. She was born June 9, 1926 in Catskill, NY to the late Fred and Frieda {Todlin} Walser. Gloria worked with her husband in the family business as a book keeper for PIP Printing. Gloria was always family orientated; she had a positive outlook on the world. She would often enjoy gardening and reading by the pool in the summer. She also enjoyed snow skiing, sailing, and motorcycling. She will be missed by all those who knew her. Gloria leaves her sons James Stemmerman, and his wife Cindy of Enfield, Mark Maid of South Windsor; her daughter Nancy Despard and her husband William of Bennington, VT; six grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. Aside from her parents she was predeceased by her brothers Fred, Andrew, and William Walser; and her sisters Linda Otis, Lizzie Phillip, and Hulda Walser. Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon, from 6 to 8 pm. Burial will be private at the convenience of her family. Memorial Donations in her name may be made to The American Heart Association.
