Gervaise (Amyot) Descheneaux, 90, a longtime resident of Ellington, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Evergreen Health Care Center in Stafford Springs. She was the loving wife of the late Fernand Descheneaux. Gervaise was born January 30, 1926 in Brownington, VT to the late Louis and Ellenna (Dube) Amyot. She grew up and lived in Brownington, VT before moving to Ellington in 1955. Prior to her retirement, Gervaise was employed by Rice Packaging of Ellington for over 25 years. After her retirement, she worked for the Human Services Department in Ellington for several years. She was a founding family member of Saint Luke Church in Ellington. Gervaise was a devoted wife, mother and loving "Meme" to her grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. She will be missed by her daughter, Gloria Dauphinais and her fiancé Ken Collier, and her daughters, Gail, Bonnie and Patricia; her three sons, Raymond Descheneaux and his companion Gina Dent of Florida, and his daughter Hope; Leonard Descheneaux and his wife Cindy, and their children, Leonard Jr., Thomas and Amanda; Fernand Descheneaux and his daughters, Stacey and Nicole, and many great grandchildren; a great great grandson; her two sisters, Madeline Descheneaux and Judith Morse, and many nieces and nephews. Gervaise was also predeceased by her daughter, Frances Descheneaux; two brothers, Roland and Andrew Amyot; her son-in-law, Richard Dauphinais, and her daughter-in-law, Cindy "CJ" Descheneaux. Her family would like to thank all of the staff at Evergreen Health Care Center for the wonderful care that they gave to Gervaise. Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Friday, May 6, 2016 from 9 – 10:30 a.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Luke Church, 124 Maple Avenue, Ellington. Burial will follow in Ellington Center Cemetery.
