Geraldine "Geri" (Gioielli) Lerz, 72, of South Windsor, beloved wife and best friend of the late Ronald J. Lerz, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 22, 2017 with her family by her side. Born in Hartford, the daughter of the late Jerry and Annette (Calabrese) Gioielli, she grew up in East Hartford where she met and married the love of her life. They moved to South Windsor to start a family and lived there for close to 50 years. Prior to her retirement, Geri loved her job at Sentry Real Estate in East Hartford. She was previously employed at United Technologies for several years. She was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Church in South Windsor. Despite her debilitating disease, Geri loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She lit up when she was with them. Anyone who ever crossed her path, fell in love with her beautiful smile and wonderful spirit. She is survived by two devoted daughters, Michelle Kehayias and her husband Anthony of South Windsor, and Alisa Drezek and her husband Christopher of South Windsor; four grandchildren, Roberto, and Mitchell Kehayias, and Olivia and Samantha Drezek; her cousin who she considered her brother, Bob Urso and his wife Babe of South Windsor; and Frank Drury of South Windsor who was like a son to her for over 30 years. She also leaves aunts, uncles, many cousins and dear friends. Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor followed by a private funeral service and burial at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Hartford. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, CT Chapter, 659 Tower Avenue, First Floor, Hartford, CT 06112.
