Gerald Greene, 82, formerly of Granby, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2016, at the Abramson Center for Jewish Life in North Wales, Pennsylvania. Born on January 21, 1934 in New Haven, son of the late Jack and Rose Greene, Gerry was a Connecticut resident for 80 years, 23 of which were spent in Granby. Gerry relocated to Pennsylvania in 2014 to be closer to his daughter following the death of his late wife, Lorna Greene. Gerry served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for Wyeth-Ayerst (now Pfizer) for more than 30 years. He was a life-long fan of the New York Yankees and an avid follower of the UConn Women's basketball team and the New York Giants. Over the course of his life, he enjoyed playing basketball, bowling, reading, playing poker, and vacationing at the beach. Most of all, he adored his family and the many close friends he made and kept in touch with over the years. In addition to Lorna Greene, Gerry was predeceased by his sister, Ida Weiss, and his brother, Irving Greene. Gerry is survived by his children and their spouses, Risa Boerner and her husband Brian of Wayne, Pennsylvania, John Tindall and his wife Traci of San Clemente, California, and Jeff Tindall of Simsbury; his beloved grandchildren, Lila Boerner, Nikki and Casey Tindall, and Alex and Harry Tindall; his nephew Bruce Weiss and his wife Susan, his nephew Larry Weiss; and his great-nieces Samantha, Liza, and Danielle Weiss. Services will be held at the Hayes Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook Street, Granby, Connecticut, on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 10 a.m., followed by a burial ceremony at The Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery in East Granby, Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Abramson Center for Jewish Life, 1425 Horsham Road, North Wales, PA 19454 or the Granby Library, 15 N. Granby Road, Granby, CT 06035.
