Frank W. Lane, 84, of Exeter, NH formerly of South Windsor, CT, beloved husband of Eileen (Sheahan) Lane, died peacefully on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at home, surrounded by his family. Frank was born on January 3, 1933 in Derby, CT, son of the late Francis M. and Mary (Clynch) Lane. He grew up in Indian Neck/Branford, CT, and graduated from Notre Dame High School in West Haven, CT. Frank went on to graduate from the University of Notre Dame in 1954 with a degree in Engineering. Frank worked as an Engineer at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford for 36 years and retired in 1991. Frank loved these institutions deeply. Not only for what they stood for and provided for him, but for the people he worked with and befriended. Frank married Eileen Sheahan in 1958 and together they settled in South Windsor, CT, where they lived for over 50 years. A devoted Catholic, Frank was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, coached the CYO basketball team and was active with the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Along with his wife Eileen of 58 years, he leaves his children, Kathryn Lane of Exeter, NH, Tricia Valcich of Hampton, NH, Frank W. Lane Jr. and his wife Alisa of Jackson Hole, WY, Edward Lane and his wife Lori of Ellington, Michael Lane and his wife Jill of Lewisburg, PA; his sisters, Marilyn Dooley of Sarasota, FL, Sharon Adinolfi and her husband Sal of Clinton, CT and Denise Adam and her husband George of Venice, FL; and 11 grandchildren whom he cherished. He was predeceased by his sister Elaine Eifler. Frank was never more happy than watching his Irish on a crisp autumn Saturday, organizing his tennis tournament at the South Windsor Swim Club, enjoying a cocktail at the numerous family reunions, and singing and clapping along to Irish music. He will be remembered for his wit and his ability to lift any affair to a higher plane. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, 10:30 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Rd., South Windsor. Burial will be private at the request of his family. His family will receive friends prior to the Mass on Tuesday, from 10-10:30 at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society Exeter at www.svdpexeter.com.
