Frances Ann (Piccoli) O'Brien, 74, of South Windsor, beloved wife of Thomas O'Brien, Sr., passed away peacefully on Friday, September 16, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Hartford, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Faenza) Piccoli, she grew up in Hartford and has lived in East Hartford for most of her life. Prior to her retirement, Frances was employed by Stop & Shop in Manchester and several other locations for over 35 years. She was a communicant of St. Rose Church in East Hartford. Francis enjoyed shopping, cooking, baking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Frances was extremely proud of all her grandchildren and loved them so much. She liked going to the casino and making friends there. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Thomas O'Brien, Jr. of East Hartford, Sharon Hubbard and Doreen Junious both of South Windsor, and Dyan Acosta of East Hartford; six grandchildren, Joseph O'Brien of East Hartford, Kelsey and Jalen Junious both of South Windsor, Selena, Ramon Jr. and Alex Acosta all of East Hartford; two sisters, Chris and Duke (Brother in Law) Stanton of Florida, and Marion Bonee of West Hartford; a son-in-law, Jimmie Junious of East Hartford; several nieces and nephews, and her longtime friends, Joyce Ronan of Manchester, Audrey Moir of Florida, Carol Gilbert of East Hartford and Betty Hathaway of Vernon. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Brittany Ann O'Brien, her son-in-law, Ramon Acosta Sr., and a sister, Rosie LaFlamme. Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor followed by a funeral service beginning at 7 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
