Eileen D. Martin, 81, passed away peacefully with her husband and son at her bedside on April 24, 2017. She fought a courageous 5 month battle with congestive heart failure and spent her last two weeks in the Suffield House, Suffield, CT. She is survived by her husband Donald Martin, Windsor Locks CT and son Steven, Boston MA along with grandchildren Michael Martin, Katelyn Martin, and Mary Martin. Her first son Michael predeceased her on December 28, 2007. Eileen enjoyed a full, adventurous and productive life during her 61 years of marriage. She married at age 21, worked full time most of her life, raised two successful children, enjoyed traveling both nationally and overseas, managed 6 different homes in the Northern Connecticut area, and participated in many types of activities while raising a family and after becoming an "empty nester". Being married at an early age while raising two children involved doing many new things such as boating with the family speedboat, skiing at Sugarbush Vermont Ski Area and staying in the family trailside condominium which was owned for over 25 years, kayaking in rivers, lakes, and ocean bays and ponds, camping in tents in both civilized and wild areas, spending weekends at Newport, Rhode Island and many other adventurous activities. Eileen loved to travel to different parts of the country with her children and later with husband Donald on over 18 company sponsored sales award trips with different computer companies. Her favorite overseas trip was to Rome Italy with a group of over 2, 000 employees of Wang Laboratories on a sales achiever trip. Her favorite winter destination was The Villages, Florida which were in her words "the best and most enjoyable vacation in the world". She began working with Bigelow Sanford then Hallmark Cards both in Enfield CT and retired from King Koil Sleep Products now in East Windsor CT having worked and retired from there for over 25 years. She had many good friends and wonderful relationships over her lifetime with her coworkers, friends, and neighbors.
