Edward L. Strout, Jr., 71, of Manchester, beloved husband of Lisa Mason, passed away at home on December 2, 2016. Edward was born in Tampa, Florida to the late Edward and Herthel (Butler) Strout on April 6, 1945. He grew up in Bar Harbor, Maine graduating from Bar Harbor High School and attended Springfield College. Edward was extremely passionate about sports whether playing Semi Pro baseball in Maine, racquet ball in Windsor or watching his favorite teams; the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He was a true cigar aficionado who loved to travel and spend time in the Caribbean with his family. Edward is survived by Lisa Mason, his loving wife of 35 years together; his son Mark Strout and his wife Elizabeth of Bolton; his daughter Jill Strout of Vermont; his brothers William, Steven, Ronald, and Alan Strout; his grandchildren Sadie and Emma French, and Harper and Cooper Strout; numerous nieces and nephews; along with his cats Witherspoon and Rusty. Aside from his parents Edward was predeceased by his brothers Robert, Richard, and Lawrence Strout; as well as his sister Peggy Strout. Calling hours are being held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor, CT from 10 am to 12 noon, with a service at the funeral home at 12 pm. The family of Edward Strout would like to extend a special thank you to the Interventional Radiology Group at Jefferson Radiology and the Masonicare Home Hospice team for the exceptional care given to Edward.
