Earle Francis Armstrong Sr., 90, of South Windsor beloved husband of Dorothy (Schwager) Armstrong died peacefully on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at home, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 12, 1927 in the Buckland section of Manchester, son of the late David and Myrtle (Weeder) Armstrong. He grew up in Buckland and went on to serve our country during WWII with the U.S. Army Air Corps. Upon returning from service he was married to the love of his life, Dorothy Schwager on September 16, 1950. They settled in the Wapping section of South Windsor in 1956 and became members of the Wapping Community Church. Earle worked for Edart Truck Rental for many years. A kind, caring and devoted family man he will be dearly missed. Earle’s grandchildren were very special to him. His family would like to thank the Vernon VNA Hospice for their kind and compassionate care, especially Heather. Along with his wife of over 67 years, Dorothy, he leaves his children, Earle F. Armstrong Jr. and his wife Linda of Bolton, Deborah Jo Laws and her husband Wallace of Winchester, and Kathy Ann Minicucci and her husband James of Bolton; his sister, Barbara Sentivany of Manchester; and his grandchildren, Ryan Keefe, Christopher Armstrong, and Kaitlin Armstrong. He was predeceased by his brother, Walter Armstrong, and sister, Virginia Roberts. His family will receive friends on Thursday, May 31, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018, 11 a.m., at the Wapping Community Church, 1790 Ellington Rd., South Windsor.
